BATTLEFIELD 6 opening cinematic.

The latest installment of the beloved first person shooter franchise takes place in a very near future where a new force, the private military corporation PAX ARMATA is growing stronger and stronger, rivaling NATO in power. This sets the stage for the unfolding epic conflict taking the player across the globe in the fight for control over what is left and ultimately survival of the world as we know it.

The team was tasked with introducing the story and conflict to the player through a tense and cinematic telling of recent political developments, PAXs rise to power and what the player can expect joining the battle.

Given only two months from start to finish we created a continuously emotionally escalating short film using fast paced storytelling and an aesthetic that went hand in hand with the look and feel of the game - raw, distorted, graphic, cinematic.

About halfway through the process we were also tasked with creating a second film, this one acting as the intro to the singleplayer experience of the game.

Below are the final films accompanied with still frames and work in progress development.

“The world as it’s commonly known has crumbled.”

“Alliances that were held since WWII, gone.”

The Pitch

Creating a successful concept with an accompanying visual treatment is often the first step when embarking on a new project and this was no different. Fast paced, not a lot of information to go on and high stakes. Luckily, a key theme helped guide the process and outcome: realistic ‘around-the-corner’ futurism.
