WHAT IS PROJECT: UNDERBELLY?
An excuse to come together as a community and make something for the love of the craft (and your portfolio).
GOAL
Create a set of title sequence style frames for a fictional show with a darker tone. Think True Detective or Mindhunter.
Bonus points if you come with story synopsis and characters.
FINAL OUTPUT
6-12 style frames in a coherent sequence including credit names + roles (ex. actor names, producer, directed by etc) and of course the name of the show on the final card. You can name the show whatever you want but try to make it fit the tone.
Send your final frames to projectunderbelly@gmail.com preferably using a Dropbox or Google Drive link (or similar). I will put together a reel showcasing all of the frames.
METHOD
Take your camera and go out into your city or town and shoot. Then use the photographs together with typography to construct the style frames.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
Rules of engagement:
You have to use photography as your main elements and the photos have to be taken by you for this project. No use of someone else’s photos or your old ones.
You can use 3D if you want but the final style frames have to clearly use the photos you’ve taken (for ex. mapping onto geometry).
Absolutely no use of AI. Zero. Not for idea generation, not for research, and obviously not for content generation. It defeats the purpose of the exercise and project.
